Submissions sought for supply chain management conference
06/12/2010
The annual conference of the Institute of Operations Management (IOM) is seeking submissions for its 2011 event to highlight the conference's theme of 'Operating Unconventionally'.
The event will take place on 11 May next year at Studley Castle in the West Midlands, and will be a forum for ideas on supply chain management and continuous improvement, while also being a showcase for companies who have shown particular innovation in those fields.
The IOM's managing director, Leonie Edwards, said she expected particularly interesting cases to crop up this year, with companies wanting to show the methods they employed to weather the financial crisis.
"Following the recession, pressures on operations and supply chain management are greater than ever - the future is all about developing enhanced efficiency at reduced costs," she said. "IOM's role is to provide a platform for the exchange of information and new ideas, the promotion of best practice, and the development of innovation."
Submissions are being sought on such issues as lean and Six Sigma applications, continuous and quality improvements, supply chain operations, environment and sustainability, inventory, sales, automation, demand management and forecasting.
The subjects are not strictly limited to these areas, however, and the IOM will consider contributions on any relevant topic to the overall theme. For more information on how to make a submission visit the IOM's website at www.iomnet.org.uk.
